FILM SYNOPSIS

Réécrire sa vie
Annie Coutu | 25 min (Canada, 2007) Documentary
Produced by Aisha Productions

With no education, what kind of life will you have?
Will you be able to understand all the government paperwork? Will you be able to hide the fact that you can't write or read? Will you be able to do the job that you want? The solution is maybe closer then you think...Seven (7) people give us the reasons they dropped out originally and what brought them back to school after all those years.Seven (7) people with different life styles and backgrounds, seven (7) people who found out that the only way to touch their dreams is by rewriting their life ("Re Ecrire sa vie"). The documentary makes people of all ages and social bearings realize more the importance of having a good education. It is our hope that this documentary might help people in the same position as the people in the documentary decide to go back to school for a better education

Work in Progress (Out of Competition)
Repentance

Julio Antonio Toro |13 min (USA, 2008) Suspense/ Horror
Written by Julio Antonio Toro
Produced by HollyHood Productions
in Association with Pagan Images

Father Brennan, a tortured priest, is forced to confront the demons of his past
when a mysterious wanderer enters his church and forces him into a confession.Filmmaker's Comment: I created this film as a character study based on the Catholic Church's neglect in addressing theongoing problem of pedophile priests. I was fascinated by the
idea that someone who dedicates their life to God can live their remaining days knowing that such an outrageous sin awaits
them on their day of judgment:

Created and produced by Eleanor Dubinsky

Short Forms is a series of three experiments that zoom in on details of ordinary life to reveal moments of accidental beauty. Humorous, visceral, and personal, the works draw on the artist’s choreographic sensibility and are playfully crafted studies seeking meaning in the everyday moods and moments that often pass us by.Filmmaker's note: All footage in this video piece was filmed in Dunkerque, France during the very cold winter of 2005. Short Forms was first exhibited at the Bruno David Gallery in St. Louis, MO in 2007.

The Dragon Who Eats Little Girls
Lukas Constantine | 9:35 min (Greece, 1990) horror/experimental

The remains of an abandon factory near the sea, will be the ideal place for a young infidel mother to hide
her crime. The oldest crime in the world namely adultery. She will arrive there on a hot summer day with her
daughter (a girl no more than six years old) as well as with her lover. After they unload the kid by
sending her to play, the two lovers start enjoying the
pleasures of the flesh…
Their intercourse will be interrupted at an inappropriate moment. The little girl comes back screaming: “there under the rocks.. into the sea… a man .. and together we sang….” There is no much to understand of all these incoherences. “What exactly did you see Alice?” Asks the lover. “A man under the rocks” replies the girl. “So you know who this man you saw is? He is the bad Dragon who eats the little girls….”The eternal conflict between the materialistic world of the adults and the fantasy world of the kids takes a new dimension in this tale of Septimus Dail.

Filmmaker's Comment:
“The Dragon Who Eats Little Girls” is a black comedy. It is the story of a little girl who tries to speak, but nobody pays any attention to her. Therefore the ending is an inevitable tragedy - a laughing tragedy. I can say that my film is a Greek cinematographic adaptation of Septimus Dale’s narrative; not only because the dialogs are in Greek (with English subtitles), but also because the strong sunlight,
the landscape and the colors of the Greek summer they actually “play” into this versionIt was my very first film.
This film passed on CBC – Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and so I decided to stay in Canada.
